Attendance at Moulton Chapel Primary School
Attendance Lead - Mrs Lisa Sexton
Attendance Governor - Ms Amanda Mackey
At Moulton Chapel Primary School we strongly believe that our pupils benefit from regular attendance in both terms of academic and social growth. Attending every day is the best way to achieve, succeed and get the most out of what our school has to offer. With the support of parents and carers, our aim is to minimise the amount of time lost due to absence so that every child is able to experience the benefits of attending school and maximising your child's potential.
Our target for the year is to reach 97% or above as an indicator of excellent attendance.
What to do if your child is absent
Each day your child is absent we ask that you ring tot he school office on 01406 380440, if you cannot get through then please leave a message. Alternatively, you can email school enquiries@moultonchapel.lincs.sch.uk. If there are any issues in getting your child into school please get in touch with school as soon as possible and Mrs Sexton and or Mrs Palgrave (Family Liaison Support Worker) will be in contact.
we ask that you try to make dental or hospital appointments outside of the school day. We understand that this can sometimes be difficult but minimising your child's time out of school is crucial. Any child that has an appointment through the school day, please contact the school office and have handed in any medical evidence to go along with this appointment. Any other absence needs to be put in writing and handed into the office.
If contact has not been made by you about your child's absence then the school office will contact you. If we receive no answer from you, we may complete a home visit. If you decide to move your child to a different school, you must inform us of that decisions as soon as you have secured a place at a different provider. We will then ask you to complete a form. If you do not have the relevant information asked for on the form then this may lead to use reporting your child as a 'Child Missing Education' to Lincolnshire County Council. After 21 days of your child being absent from our school, we remain the right to remove them from our role.
Holidays
We ask that holidays are not taken in term time. As in accordance with our policy and holiday taken in term time will be unauthorised unless deemed to be an exceptional circumstances and you could be issued with a fixed penalty notice from LCC. Holiday forms must be completed and handed into the school office prior to any requested absence. No retrospect authorisation will be given.
Lateness
Our school day starts at 8.45am, any child that is not in school when the register is completed by 8.50am will be recorded as L (late). Any child that is brought into school after the register closes at 9am will receive an unauthorised absence mark (U). Should your child receive 10 or more unauthorised lates within a 6 week period you may be subject to a fixed penalty notice from LCC.
Communication with you
We will contact you if your child's attendance has become a concern for us. This will give you the opportunity to discuss any reasons for this with us and also work with us to improve their attendance. As part of this support you could be invited into school to meet with either Headteacher or the school Family Liaison Support Worker - Mrs Palgrave.
How we reward excellent attendance
As a school, we really enjoy rewarding children and parents for their efforts, this year we will be introducing posting a letter of improvement to parents who have supported an improvement in their child's attendance. We will reward those children with good attendance with a certificate each term, and those with 100% attendance will also receive a certificate and an attendance prize. At the end of the summer term, those who have 100% for the whole year will receive a special certificate.
As a school we believe it is really important to award the children who continually attend school.
